Beekeeping

Over the years we have managed to train over 5,000 beekeepers in Uganda cutting across the whole spectrum and enriching us with local content as regards to beekeeping. We have also extended our highly experienced technical skills to the neighbouring countries. Our hands on approach, innovations and business model separates us from the rest who participate in beekeeping development.

Consultancy

We have worked with a couple of Organizations where we have taken on projects from start to finish creating sustainability & real impact especially with smallholder beekeepers and established organisations by building and strengthening strong honey value chains and value addition in remote areas in Uganda. We have also helped promote forage conservation for upcoming beekeepers.

How we do this

Apiculture Extension Services

LIDEFO Uganda Ltd has a network of field community mobilisers, agents and Lead Bee farmers. This system is utilized to provide free extensions advisory services to the thousands of Farmers spread out through the catchment area.

Farmer Co-Investment Scheme

LIDEFO Uganda Ltd partners with farmers to produce quality honey, make local hives, raise productivity and sources lucrative markets for the Bee products, Practical Skilling and Business Development

Honey Shops

To support local farmers, LIDEFO Uganda Ltd partners with Lead farmers and groups to run collect and deliver honey to Grace’s Shop, which is also used for promoting Tourism. This also work as the Beekeeper’s information point used for collection and marketing of LIDEFO Honey Products

Practical Skills and Business Development

LIDEFO Uganda Ltd is currently involved in the implementation of several practical skill programs in rural areas of Kasese, Bunyangabu, Kabarole, Kyenjojo, Kanungu and Kyegegwa in partnership with Bees Abroad UK.

Yumbe in partnership with Obaki Foundation.

Using Gender inclusivity approaches, we have been able to teach hundreds of rural smallholder Women and Youth Beekeepers in Modern Beekeeping techniques as well as in other Marketable enterprise skills such as “Bee Soap” Making, Candle Making, Body creams, propolis tincture making, skills in Arts and Crafts to mention but a few.
